Electrical Engineer Intern — BP

Nov 2023 – Feb 2024
  • Built an Excel-based modelling tool to compare HV transmission lines vs hydrogen pipelines (standards, SIL, reactive compensation).
  • Added advanced loss models (corona, skin effect, bundling, phase spacing) with inputs up to 500 km / 30 GW.
  • Extended to n-1 and multi-line scenarios for AREH/GERI reliability analysis; validated against ETAP and consultant benchmarks.
  • Integrated 50+ year lifecycle costs (CAPEX/OPEX, inflation-adjusted) for NPV; identified ~10% lifecycle savings (~$400M) across scenarios.
  • Assessed Dynamic Line Rating (wind + thermal algorithms) with potential ~$20M savings; delivered docs and a user guide; presented to senior engineers.

Team Member — Structures, ANU Solar Racing

Mar 2022 – Present
  • Aero & structures for BWSC vehicles (2023 & 2025).
  • Led iterative CFD in ANSYS Fluent; ~20% drag reduction and improved efficiency in realistic conditions.
  • Automated CFD workflows in Python, accelerating validation cycles.
  • SolidWorks composites design aligned to tooling/layup constraints; integrated structural/electrical packaging.

Researcher — Individual Honours Project

Feb 2025 – Present
  • Designed a GRU-based Gaussian-mixture variational autoencoder for early wildfire anomaly detection from eCO₂/VOC sensor streams.
  • Trained on normal conditions to improve sensitivity while reducing false positives.
  • Built scalable Python/TensorFlow pipelines targeting resource-constrained MCU deployment.
  • Unified gas & environmental streams to improve latency and detection accuracy; evaluated model/accuracy/hardware trade-offs for field use.
